Exogenous factors - Phototoxic agents

Phototoxic agents lead to direct tissue injury following their UV-light-induced activation in all exposed individuals. The phototoxic reaction develops within hours and is mostly UVA-induced. Common phototoxic agents include drugs such as furosemide, phenothiazines, tetracyclines and thiazides as well as furocoumarins and tar.
