Asteatotic eczema

Regular use of emollients, especially urea or lactic acid-containing preparations is a mainstay of therapy and avoids relapses of asteatotic eczema. Additionally, the use of bathing/ showering oil and the elimination of factors that aggravate dry skin are important (see “Treatment – General”). In severe cases, the application of topical corticosteroid ointment within the first days of treatment may be necessary and depends on the individual skin condition.
